Tragedy in Mauritius: 6 pilgrims perish in Hindu festival fire.

Post by: Dr. Amrinder Pal Singh

Tragedy struck Port Louis, Mauritius on Sunday as six pilgrims lost their lives during a Hindu festival's religious ritual. The incident occurred when a wooden and bamboo cart, adorned with Hindu deities' figurines, ignited upon contact with exposed electric wires. Police Commissioner Anil Kumar Dip reported the incident on national television, stating that the accident resulted in six fatalities and seven injuries, with one individual in serious condition. The victims, en route to the revered Grand Bassin lake for the upcoming Shivaratri festival on March 8, were on a pilgrimage by foot. The incident underscores the devastating consequences of a fire during the sacred journey.
