Dubai International (DXB) marked a remarkable beginning to the year with its busiest quarter ever, solidifying its status as a global aviation hub and a pivotal driver of Dubai’s economy and the wider Middle East aviation sector. During Q1, DXB experienced a notable upsurge in passenger numbers, welcoming 23 million guests through its terminals, representing an 8.4% rise compared to the corresponding period last year. This surge underscores DXB's attractiveness to major markets and its significant contribution to Dubai’s reputation as a premier international destination for both tourism and trade. Notably, total passenger traffic for the quarter peaked at 23,052,060 guests, with January witnessing the highest traffic volume at 7.9 million guests.
Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, lauded the robust growth momentum at DXB, attributing it in part to the expansion of routes offered by home base carriers Emirates and flydubai. As Dubai continues to position itself as a global magnet for talent, businesses, and tourists, DXB remains focused on sustaining growth and enhancing the overall airport experience. With a promising start to Q2 and an optimistic outlook for the year ahead, DXB has revised its annual forecast to accommodate 91 million guests, surpassing the previous traffic record set in 2018.
