In Dubai, the prospect of hearing one's son leading prayers in the local mosque is a source of immense pride for every parent. Thanks to the innovative program known as Imam Al Farij, initiated by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) Dubai, this cherished aspiration is now within reach for many families.
Imam Al Farij, spearheaded under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of IACAD, builds upon the success of the earlier Muezzin Al Farij campaign. The primary objective is to identify and nurture the most talented individuals among the city's youth, empowering them to assume leadership roles within the religious community.
Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, the director general of the department, articulates the program's broader mission, stating, "The initiative aims to groom young individuals to lead prayers in Dubai mosques and play a role in fostering awareness and education within Dubai's society." By targeting youth aged between 16 and 21, Imam Al Farij seeks to cultivate a culture of religious consciousness and responsibility, particularly within the family unit.

Imam Al Farij offers a comprehensive training program spanning over four months, conducted across 70 mosques strategically located throughout the city. The initiative invites interested parents to bring their children to mosques immediately after the afternoon prayer starting from May 1. Parents have the flexibility to choose the mosque nearest to their residence and register their children's information with the mosque's custodian.
To facilitate the application process, interested parties can access the list of 70 participating mosques on IACAD's official website. The deadline for registration is set for May 15, providing ample time for families to enroll their children in this transformative initiative. For further inquiries and assistance, individuals may contact the designated hotline at 800600.
The training curriculum for Imam Al Farij participants is meticulously designed to cater to two distinct age groups: 16-21 and 6-15. Participants aged between 16 and 21 will undergo a rigorous course comprising educational sessions held three days a week. These sessions will be conducted in person every Monday and Wednesday, with remote sessions on Fridays, spanning from the Asr prayer until the Maghrib prayer.
Similarly, younger participants aged 6-15 will engage in remote sessions every Sunday, complemented by in-person sessions on Tuesday and Thursday. The training regimen encompasses a diverse range of topics, including jurisprudential programs focusing on the principles of imamate, prayer, and Quran memorization. Participants' progress will be meticulously evaluated by appointed committees during the subsequent month of September.
Imam Al Farij aligns closely with Dubai's Social Agenda 33, a comprehensive framework aimed at nurturing stable families and empowering future generations to embrace their cultural heritage and prepare for the challenges of tomorrow. Dr. Mohammed Suhail Al Muhairi, director of the Masjids Religious Services and head of the Imam Al Farij initiative team, underscores the widespread participation of 70 designated mosques in Dubai, highlighting the collective commitment to fostering religious leadership among the city's youth.
