In the wake of Trump’s success, Musk posted a photo on his social media platform, X, showing him alongside Trump at an election watch party in Florida. During his victory speech, Trump singled out Musk, calling him a "genius" and highlighting his accomplishments. Trump referred to Musk as "an amazing guy" and “a super genius,” praising his ventures, including the successful SpaceX missions and the deployment of the Starlink satellite internet service during Hurricane Helene. Trump also hailed Musk’s innovation, calling him “a star” and noting his contribution to the space and tech industries.

Musk’s backing of Trump during the campaign was well known. He showed his support through the America PAC, a political action committee that contributed tens of millions of dollars to the campaign and also offered a $1 million giveaway to registered voters in key battleground states. This strong political alliance between Musk and Trump appears to have fueled the market's reaction.

Andrea Tueni, an analyst at Saxobank, commented that Tesla's stock rise could be linked to Musk’s special relationship with Trump, suggesting that the close ties between the two could be beneficial for Tesla in the future. “Tesla shares are rising due to his special ties with Donald Trump,” Tueni said, adding that Trump “owes him a lot.” Investors are hoping that the alignment between Musk and Trump will translate into positive outcomes for Tesla and the broader tech and energy sectors.

Throughout the campaign, Trump spoke highly of Musk and proposed that, if elected, he would appoint the tech billionaire to lead a government efficiency commission aimed at eliminating wasteful spending and cutting "trillions" of dollars from the national budget. This potential appointment was seen as a further incentive for investors who believe that a Trump presidency could be favorable for Tesla’s growth, especially given the political support Musk has shown throughout the election process.
