Terrorist Stabs 3 in Israel Shopping Mall, Injuries Reported

In a recent incident near the Israeli town of Ashdod, a man wielding two knives stabbed and wounded three individuals in a shopping mall on Sunday, according to emergency services. A police spokesperson labeled the assailant a "terrorist" who had carried out the attack before being "neutralized" by local law enforcement. The assault occurred at the Friendly Mall in Gan Yavne, adjacent to Ashdod, as reported by Zaki Heller, a spokesperson for Magen David Adom, the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross, on a platform formerly known as Twitter. Heller stated that paramedics were attending to three victims, some of whom were seriously injured, and they were subsequently transported to Assuta Hospital in Ashdod for treatment.

The suspect, believed to be a 19-year-old from Hebron in the West Bank, was disclosed by a police spokesperson to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

This incident follows a series of similar attacks across Israel and the occupied West Bank in recent weeks, including one at a bus station in the southern city of Beersheva earlier on the same Sunday.

The surge in such attacks coincides with heightened tensions since the outbreak of conflict between Hamas and Israel, triggered by a Hamas assault on Israel on October 7.

According to an AFP tally based on Israeli official figures, approximately 1,160 individuals, predominantly civilians, lost their lives in the unprecedented Hamas attack on Israel. In response, Israel's retaliatory campaign has reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 32,782 people, primarily women and children, as announced by the health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza on Sunday.
