At least five people have been killed and 22 others injured in a coordinated attack on the headquarters of the state-run Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) near Ankara. The assault occurred on Wednesday, with assailants reportedly detonating explosives before opening fire on the facility.

Turkey's Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya, confirmed the casualties and detailed the unfolding situation during a press briefing. He emphasized that security forces were swiftly dispatched to the scene to manage the crisis and assess the situation. The attack took place in a highly sensitive area, raising concerns about the security of strategic infrastructure in Turkey.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple explosions followed by the sound of gunfire, causing panic among employees and nearby residents. The immediate aftermath of the incident saw emergency services rushing to the location, providing medical assistance to the injured and conducting an evacuation of the building.

Authorities have not yet identified the attackers or their motives. However, they are actively investigating the incident, examining potential links to various extremist groups. In recent years, Turkey has experienced a number of violent attacks, often attributed to Kurdish militants, the Islamic State group, or leftist extremists, all of which have targeted government and security forces.

As the investigation continues, security measures have been heightened across the capital and surrounding regions. The government has pledged to strengthen security protocols at vital infrastructure locations to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The attack has reignited discussions around national security and the ongoing threats faced by the country, as officials urge for unity and resilience in the face of terrorism.
