Srinivasan Sivaraman, a 40-year-old Indian national hailing from Tamil Nadu, met a tragic demise in Singapore after inhaling toxic fumes while performing his duties at his workplace. As a cleaning operations manager at Supersonic Maintenance Services, Sivaraman was engaged in cleaning a tank at the Public Utility Board’s Choa Chu Kang Waterworks when the unfortunate incident occurred on May 23.
Alongside two Malaysian colleagues, Sivaraman was found unconscious at the water distribution facility, having been exposed to hydrogen sulphide gas, a by-product of the water treatment process. Despite immediate medical attention, Sivaraman succumbed to the effects of the toxic gas, leaving his family devastated.
His wife, Narmatha, and their two young daughters, Mahasri (9) and Srinisha (7), had recently arrived in Singapore for their summer holidays. Blissfully unaware of their father's tragic fate, the young girls were eagerly anticipating a family trip to Malaysia. However, upon learning of Sivaraman's untimely demise, the family hastily returned to their hometown of Kambarnatham in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, India.
