The Sudanese government has again blamed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for making the war in Sudan worse. This happened just one day before an important hearing at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), where Sudan is taking the UAE to court for allegedly helping in genocide.
Sudan’s army, which supports the government, has been fighting a group called the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for almost two years. This war has created one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. The United Nations says millions of people have been badly affected — many have lost their homes, and a huge number are facing hunger.

On Wednesday, Sudan’s Information Minister, Khalid al-Aiser, spoke at a press conference. He said, “The United Arab Emirates has played a major role in making this war worse. They have done things that go against human rights and could be punished by international law.”
Sudan officially filed a complaint against the UAE at the ICJ in early April. The hearing for this case is set for Thursday. Sudan says the UAE helped the RSF, which has carried out violent attacks against a group of people called the Masalit. The Masalit are a non-Arab ethnic group who live in Darfur, a large area in western Sudan. Many of them have been killed or forced to leave their homes.
Sudan believes that by helping the RSF, the UAE has become involved in genocide — which means trying to destroy a group of people. The UAE has strongly denied these accusations. They called Sudan’s case a "publicity stunt" and said they would ask the court to dismiss it.
Minister Aiser said that Sudan has "enough evidence" to prove its claims.
So far, the war in Sudan has killed tens of thousands of people. Over 12 million people have been forced to leave their homes. Some areas are already facing famine, and the United Nations says this could spread to other parts of the country.
Sudan has asked the ICJ to take urgent action. It wants the court to tell the UAE to stop supporting the RSF and to pay for the damage caused by the war.
The ICJ is the main court that handles legal cases between countries. Its decisions are legally binding, but it doesn’t have the power to make countries follow its orders directly.
In January this year, UN experts said there is believable information that the UAE sent weapons to the RSF by passing them through Chad, a country that borders Sudan.
This situation remains serious, and people around the world are watching to see what the court will decide.
