In a significant safety alert, Chrysler-parent Stellantis has announced a recall of 112,859 vehicles in the U.S. after regulators flagged a potential engine hazard that could lead to failure or fire. The move comes after the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) identified debris inside the engines of affected models.

The recall affects multiple models across Stellantis’ portfolio, though the company has not yet disclosed the complete list of vehicles. Early reports suggest that the defect stems from foreign particles entering the engine during manufacturing, which could compromise engine performance over time. While no widespread accidents have been reported yet, experts warn that even minor engine debris can escalate into serious mechanical failures or fire hazards, especially if left unaddressed.

Vehicle owners are being urged to inspect their cars immediately and check the NHTSA database for updates. Stellantis has advised that affected vehicles will be repaired at authorized dealerships at no cost, emphasizing the importance of prompt action. The recall also underlines the ongoing challenge automakers face in maintaining safety amid large-scale production.

Industry watchers note that while recalls can dent short-term confidence, swift response and transparent communication often mitigate long-term reputational risks. Stellantis’ proactive approach reflects a growing trend among global automakers to address potential hazards before they escalate, highlighting the critical role of regulatory oversight in vehicle safety.

For owners, staying alert and acting on recall notices can prevent potential engine damage and ensure safety on the road.
