SunRisers Hyderabad secured their spot in the final of IPL 2024 after defeating Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs in Qualifier 2 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on Friday. This victory paves the way for SRH to face Kolkata Knight Riders in the summit clash, scheduled to take place on May 26, at the same venue. Despite a formidable bowling effort from the pace duo of Trent Boult and Avesh Khan, who both claimed three wickets each, SRH managed to post a competitive total of 175 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Boult, with figures of 3/45, and Khan, with 3/27, were supported by Sandeep Sharma, who registered 2/25. 

In the batting department, Heinrich Klaasen emerged as the top-scorer for SRH with a brisk 34-ball 50, while contributions from Travis Head (34) and Rahul Tripathi (37) bolstered the total. However, despite their efforts, RR could only manage 139 for 7 in their 20 overs, largely due to Shahbaz Ahmed's impressive bowling performance of 3 for 23.

The victory sparked jubilation among SRH's owner, Kavya Maran, who celebrated the team's return to the IPL final after six years with a warm embrace with her father, Kalanithi Maran. Shahbaz Ahmed, who was awarded the Player of the Match, expressed his delight at contributing to the team's success, emphasizing the importance of his role in the lower order. As an Impact Player in the game, Shahbaz's performance proved crucial, particularly as SRH found themselves six wickets down. Reflecting on his innings, Shahbaz praised the bowling efforts of Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma, highlighting the significance of the victory and the relaxed atmosphere within the team camp. He concluded by stating that the team would celebrate only after winning the final, choosing to focus on relaxation for the time being.
