In a world full of noise, pressure, and fast-paced choices, some people choose silence. Some people choose truth. And sometimes, they choose art—not because it's easy, but because it's the only path that truly feels like home. This is the story of Sneha Gindodiya, a woman who once built machines that flew... and now creates paintings that make souls pause. Before she was a full-time artist, Sneha was an aerospace engineer. She worked with numbers, managed big projects, and traveled the world. But slowly, gently, something inside her started to change. "The precision of numbers couldn’t hold the emotions I wanted to express," she says. "Art had always been a quiet companion. And one day, I couldn’t ignore it anymore." Her journey wasn’t a dramatic leap. It was a slow, honest listening to a voice within her that had been waiting for years.
Her paintings are delicate. They whisper more than they shout. They speak of women—of strength, of softness, of silent power. "Every portrait I paint is a part of me," Sneha explains. "I paint the vulnerability and grace I’ve lived, and the beauty I’ve seen in others." Each brushstroke is like a sentence in a poem she never got to speak aloud. Through her art, she honours not just herself, but every woman who has ever held back tears, fought quietly, or stood tall without needing to explain.
Her physical path across cities matches her emotional journey. India gave her her roots. Chicago taught her challenge and ambition. California gave her the space to breathe, to create, and to finally listen to her soul. She speaks of boarding school at 12, life abroad, and learning independence not just as survival, but as strength. "Solitude helped me create. Independence helped me choose," she says. Her story isn’t hers alone. Her husband—also her creative partner—builds the frames for her paintings. But they’re more than wood. They’re love, support, and foundation. "His frames hold my stories. Together, we create not just art—but a shared life."
In a world where most couples struggle to align, they have found harmony in creativity, respect, and mutual growth.
When asked what was hardest to unlearn from her old career, Sneha says: “Letting go of control. Engineering was about precision. Art is about trust.” But she also admits that some parts of engineering stayed with her—her attention to detail, her calm approach to composition. Her paintings may be emotional, but they are never messy. There is structure, even in the silence. Sneha’s paintings are soft, layered, introspective—just like the artist herself. Behind each portrait is a mix of real women, emotions, memories, and moments. "They are part of me, part of others. They speak what we cannot always say." When she paints, she wonders: Am I revealing them—or revealing myself? Now, after many layers, many brushstrokes, she says she has finally found something deeper: "A fuller version of myself. A clearer vision of who I am becoming."
As an Indian artist living in the U.S., she beautifully blends the rich colors and traditions of India with the freedom and openness of her global life. "I don’t choose between them. I carry both. And together, they make my voice stronger." Her love for Persian and Indian textiles, jewelry, and quiet detail is seen in every piece. But the stories she tells are universal. She doesn’t say art "saved" her. But it gave her back to herself. "Through art, I met myself again. But this time, honestly."
She paints not to impress—but to connect. She hopes her work touches something quiet in the viewer, something real. "If someone stands before my painting and feels peace, or feels seen… that’s enough." She once wrote: “As I paint layer by layer, I wonder—am I revealing layers of myself?” Now, she knows the answer. Yes. With every layer, she has returned home. And through her, many others might finally feel a little more whole, a little more heard, and a little more human.
As part of ArtDomain, a flagship DXB News Network initiative that celebrates creative transformation and artistic authenticity, Sneha Gindodiya’s voice now joins a growing movement. She is one of the highlighted talents in A50 for 50 Artists, a platform that brings together 50 voices reshaping contemporary art with purpose, honesty, and vision. Through this initiative, DXB is proud to support artists whose stories deserve to be seen, felt, and shared—not only in galleries but also in hearts.
This work is made even more impactful through the support of galleries and institutions who recognize that art is not just decoration—but a declaration. With every brushstroke, artists like Sneha remind us that beauty is layered, real, and rooted in courage.
