The Supreme Organising Committee of the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba has shared exciting plans for the New Year’s Eve celebrations. The event promises to be unforgettable with a mix of amazing performances and fun activities for everyone.
The festival will feature incredible displays of fireworks and drones, lasting over an hour. There will also be light and laser shows. The organisers plan to break six new Guinness World Records with these stunning displays.
The fireworks will start at 6:00 p.m. and continue every hour until midnight. At midnight, a grand fireworks show will light up the sky for more than 53 minutes. This display will set new records for its long duration, smooth flow, and creative designs.

Before the big fireworks show at midnight, a fantastic drone display will take place. At 11:40 p.m., 6,000 drones will fly in the sky for a 20-minute performance. These drones will create a huge picture with 3,000 of them forming the largest-ever image. They will also display the message "HAPPY NEW YEAR" to celebrate the occasion. This drone show is also expected to break records.
The festival fun will begin earlier in the day. Gates will open at 2:00 p.m., and visitors can enjoy cultural performances by traditional bands. These performances will happen in the Heritage Village Square, the Department of Culture and Tourism Pavilion, and other festival areas. Bands will perform popular Emirati art forms such as Al Ayala, Al Razfa, and Al Naddba, with 600 performers taking part.
Pavilions representing different countries will also join the celebrations. They will have carnival-style shows and performances showcasing their unique cultures. Families and children will have plenty of activities to enjoy, like special performances at the Kids' Theater and fun rides at an amusement park with 130 games.
To make the festival even more exciting, huge digital screens covering 3,000 square metres will be set up. These screens will create a lively and colorful atmosphere.
The organising committee has reminded everyone to book tickets online in advance. Gates will close once the venue reaches full capacity. For those who can’t enter the venue, large outdoor screens will show the New Year’s celebrations live, so everyone can join in the fun.
With these plans, the Sheikh Zayed Festival promises a memorable and exciting start to the year 2025. Everyone can look forward to record-breaking shows, cultural performances, and activities that the whole family will enjoy.
