What Will Be Done Together
According to the agreement, both the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) and the Sharjah Media Council will cooperate on several important tasks. These include issuing new media licenses, renewing them, canceling them, and transferring licenses between parties. They will also share information about license approvals and work together to organize training sessions and workshops. The two groups will provide support and advice to each other to make sure everything works smoothly.
Legal Details of the Agreement
The agreement also explains the legal responsibilities of both parties. It outlines the duration of the agreement, the financial and legal commitments involved, how intellectual property rights will be handled, and how notifications and communication will be done. It also covers how changes can be made to the agreement if necessary.
Review of Media Licensing Growth
His Highness Sheikh Sultan was given a presentation that showed the growth of media licenses in Sharjah. Currently, there are 799 media licenses for 124 different types of businesses in the emirate. This shows that the media sector is growing, with a 5% increase in the number of media licenses for 2024.
Helping Businesses Grow
During the event, His Highness was also briefed about how the Sharjah Economic Development Department plans to help businesses grow. The department is focused on improving business practices, supporting new and small businesses, and encouraging more media-related activities. They also discussed the different types of media businesses that are most popular in Sharjah and how long their licenses last.
Tour of the Department
After the signing of the agreement, His Highness Sheikh Sultan took a tour of the department. During the tour, he learned about the latest digital systems that have been put in place to improve customer service. These systems make it easier to handle requests faster and with less paperwork.
New Monitoring Systems
His Highness also had the chance to see the advanced systems that are being used to track and monitor licenses. These smart tools help in making decisions by providing detailed reports and insights on licenses that are active or expired. The systems also help manage inspectors more effectively by showing where they are needed the most.
Protecting Businesses and Intellectual Property
At the end of the visit, His Highness was shown an exhibition that displayed both real and fake goods. He was briefed on the department’s efforts to protect businesses and detect counterfeit products. The department is also working on handling complaints and carrying out inspections to protect the intellectual property rights of businesses that are licensed in Sharjah.
This agreement is an important step in making it easier for businesses to operate in Sharjah, especially in the media sector, and it aims to improve efficiency and reduce the time it takes to get things done.
