The award ceremony took place at Kanazawa University, where His Highness delivered a speech in Arabic. His daughter, Her Highness Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, translated his speech into Japanese for the audience. In his speech, His Highness emphasized how important education and scientific research are for the progress of countries, both culturally and economically.
His Highness shared that Sharjah had started an important project about 20 years ago, with a vision to strengthen the intellectual abilities of young people. The goal was to help them contribute to society and compete in a world that values knowledge.
His Highness also talked about the University City project in Sharjah and the efforts made to improve higher education in the region. He mentioned the establishment of the University of Sharjah (UoS) and the American University of Sharjah (AUS), as well as Sharjah’s growing partnerships with international universities for scientific research and innovation. He stressed the role of knowledge in building stronger societies.
Japanese officials praised His Highness for his dedication to human development and his efforts to create a better, fairer future for all people. They highlighted his role in connecting the Arab world with the rest of the world.
Kanazawa University, founded in 1949, is one of Japan’s most respected universities, and His Highness is one of the few figures selected to receive this special honor. This honorary doctorate is just one of many international awards His Highness has received for his leadership and work in promoting Arab culture and education.
