President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE met with Charles Michel, President of the European Council, to discuss and strengthen the relationship between the UAE and the European Union, including its member states. The meeting, held at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, focused on advancing bilateral relations and exploring areas for growth and cooperation to benefit both parties.
Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed emphasized the longstanding ties between the UAE and the EU, highlighting the mutual commitment to expanding these relations to support shared goals and foster regional and global prosperity. The discussion also included preparations for the upcoming Gulf Cooperation Council-European Union summit, scheduled for October in Brussels. Both leaders underscored the importance of this summit in enhancing economic and developmental cooperation and setting a foundation for future progress.

In addition to discussing bilateral relations, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed and Charles Michel reviewed several critical regional and international issues. The leaders expressed deep concern over the escalating situation in the Gaza Strip and called for an urgent ceasefire to facilitate humanitarian aid. They also addressed the need to de-escalate tensions in the West Bank and push for a sustainable peace process based on the two-state solution.
Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed reiterated the UAE's unwavering support for efforts to end the Gaza conflict and promote regional stability. He stressed the UAE’s commitment to collaborating with the EU and other international partners to enhance the humanitarian response and support peace initiatives in the region.
Charles Michel expressed his appreciation for the meeting and praised the UAE's role in supporting Gulf-European cooperation and its humanitarian efforts in Gaza. He commended the UAE’s contributions to peace and stability in the Middle East and reiterated the European Union’s dedication to strengthening cooperation and addressing shared concerns with the UAE.
