Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, recently held a key meeting with Makoto Fujiwara, Executive Director of the Tokyo National Museum, signaling a strengthened cultural partnership between the UAE and Japan.
The discussion focused on expanding collaboration in research, education, and professional development within the museum sector. Both sides emphasized the importance of sharing expertise and fostering learning opportunities for museum professionals.
Sheikh Khaled highlighted the role of cross-cultural dialogue in building bridges between nations. The conversation also explored joint initiatives such as exhibitions and educational programs aimed at introducing younger generations to global cultural and civilizational heritage.
Participants discussed knowledge exchange programs, capacity-building workshops, and collaborative exhibitions as central pillars for fostering cultural understanding. By combining resources and expertise, Abu Dhabi and Tokyo aim to enrich museum practices and create long-term cultural connections.
The meeting was attended by senior Abu Dhabi officials, including Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi; Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; Saood Al Hosani, Undersecretary of DCT Abu Dhabi; and Rita Aoun, Executive Director of Culture at DCT Abu Dhabi, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to cultural diplomacy.
The dialogue between the two cultural hubs marks a step forward in global museum collaboration, highlighting a shared vision of preserving heritage while encouraging educational exchange.
