In Dhaka, violent clashes broke out late Sunday night between students and Ansar members near the Secretariat, leaving several individuals injured from both sides. The confrontation began after 9 pm, marked by a series of chases and aggressive exchanges. Police intervened in an attempt to restore order amidst the chaos.
The unrest followed a gathering of students from various dormitories of Dhaka University, who assembled at the Raju Memorial Sculpture. They were preparing to march to the Secretariat to confront Ansar members, whom they accused of being "agents of autocracy."
The situation escalated when reports emerged that Ansar members were detaining Nahid Islam, an adviser in the interim government, along with Sarjis Alam, Hasnat Abdullah, and other coordinators of the Students Against Discrimination movement, at the Secretariat.

Student Protest Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah criticized Maj Gen AKM Aminul Haque, former director general of Ansar, for allegedly prolonging the blockade of the Secretariat despite the fulfillment of protest demands. Abdullah called on supporters to gather at the Raju Memorial Sculpture via a Facebook post, accusing the Ansar force of trying to reassert autocratic control.
Maj Gen AKM Aminul Haque is the elder brother of AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, a former deputy minister of water resources.
Earlier on Sunday, Ansar members had ended their own protest after receiving assurances from Lt Gen (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the interim government's adviser for home affairs. The Ansar members had been demonstrating for two days, demanding the nationalization of their jobs.
The situation remains tense as both sides continue to navigate the fallout from the ongoing political turmoil in Bangladesh’s capital.
