The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) convened its weekly meeting at the Sharjah Ruler’s Office, chaired by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. During this session, the SEC approved the first phase of the 'Middle Line Project,' which focuses on draining rainwater and groundwater in the emirate.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the SEC. Various agenda items were discussed, including the advancement of government initiatives, infrastructure development, and the status of ongoing projects across multiple sectors.

In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the SEC greenlit the first phase of the 'Middle Line Project.' This project will involve extending the main water drainage line by 4.9 kilometers and excavating to a depth of 20 meters, with an estimated budget of 400 million dirhams.

The scope of the project includes constructing two pumping stations in the Al Soor and Al Ghubaiba areas, as well as extending main connection lines to link the existing networks to these pumping stations. Additionally, 11 inspection rooms will be built, enhancing connectivity for 13 areas and five major roads.

During the meeting, the SEC announced the promotion of Fahd Ahmed Al Khamiri from Director of the Registration and Licensing Department to Director of the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD).

The SEC also introduced new regulations concerning real estate development projects, encompassing a comprehensive set of legal provisions that govern all facets of real estate initiatives. A notable provision is the establishment of a bank guarantee account aimed at safeguarding the rights of all stakeholders, with these regulations set to take effect on May 1, 2025.

Furthermore, the SEC formed the Supreme Medical Committee for Retirement in the Emirate of Sharjah, led by Dr. Abdulaziz Saeed bin Butti Al Muhairi. The committee will also include:

  1. Dr. Saqr Abdullah Sultan Al Mualla, Consultant Physician
  2. Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Khamiri, Consultant Forensic Physician
  3. Saeed Sultan Bin Khadem, Head of Legal Support Department
  4. Yousef Obaid Al Tunaiji, Director of Subscriptions Department
  5. Nada Hassan Al Raisi, Administrative Expert
  6. Mahra Sultan Shattaf, Subscriptions Auditor, Committee Rapporteur

In a bid to bolster growth in the industrial sector, the SEC approved an extension of a 50% discount on industrial licenses for an additional year. This initiative aims to further stimulate development within the industrial landscape of the emirate, which has seen a remarkable growth rate of 16% in issued licenses, fueled by robust investment opportunities and supportive economic measures from the Sharjah government.
