During the launch, Al-Ohali highlighted the significance of Saudi Arabia’s first-time participation in Airshow China, emphasizing that it aligns with the Kingdom’s broader goals outlined in Vision 2030. The objective is to reinforce Saudi Arabia’s global presence in the military industries sector, establish strategic international partnerships, and promote the Kingdom as an attractive destination for investment. Additionally, he noted that the event provides a platform to showcase Saudi Arabia’s achievements and aspirations in the defense sector, particularly its goal of localizing more than 50% of government military spending by 2030.
The Saudi Pavilion, organized by GAMI, serves as a key exhibition space for showcasing Saudi Arabia’s advancements in military aviation. It features the latest military products, including state-of-the-art military equipment developed by national companies and government entities. This participation also underscores the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to build its domestic manufacturing capabilities in the defense sector, with a focus on military aviation and advanced technologies.
Entities participating alongside GAMI in the Saudi Pavilion include the Ministry of Investment, the General Authority for Defense Development, and national companies specializing in defense and military technologies such as the National Company for Mechanical Systems, WAKEB Company for Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems, Milestone Aviation Services, and Homat Al-Watan Company.
GAMI’s participation in Airshow China 2024 is part of a broader strategy to foster international collaboration, enhance the capabilities of Saudi defense industries, and promote investment opportunities in the Kingdom. It also highlights the Saudi leadership’s commitment to advancing its defense sector and achieving greater self-reliance in military technologies and equipment. By localizing key technologies, particularly in the aviation and aerospace fields, Saudi Arabia aims to strengthen its defense independence and contribute to the growth of its economy.
This significant event is a testament to Saudi Arabia's determination to enhance its role in the global military industry, making the Kingdom a key player in the international defense and aerospace market.
