International Grandmaster Salem Abdulrahman, who plays for the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, is giving an amazing performance at the 8th Sharjah International Chess Masters Championship. As the tournament heads into its final round, Salem has moved up to second place, making his country proud.

This big chess event is taking place at the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club and is being held under the kind support of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. It has brought together 350 players from 60 different countries, making it one of the most exciting and tough chess competitions in the region.

In the sixth round of the championship, Salem showed great skill by winning his match against Serbian player Aleksandar Indžić. With this win, his score reached 5 points. He is now just half a point behind the leader, Dutch Grandmaster Anish Giri, who has 5.5 points after drawing his game with top Uzbek player Nodirbek Abdusattorov.

Salem is not alone in second place. He shares this spot with other top players, such as Armenian Grandmaster Shant Sargsyan, Serbian players Aleksandar Indžić and Velimir Ivic, and Uzbekistani star Nodirbek Abdusattorov. This means the fight for the top position is still very close, and anything can happen in the final round.

The sixth round was attended by many important guests. People from the Centro Sharjah Hotel, which is sponsoring the tournament, were present. Also attending were Abdullah Murad Al Mazmi, the tournament director, and Taryam Matar Taryam, President of the UAE Chess Federation. Their presence showed how important this event is for the UAE and how much support chess is getting in the country.

The final round of the championship will take place tomorrow evening, and all eyes will be on Salem and the other top players.
