Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) successfully transported more than 2.8 million passengers during the New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations, registering a ridership growth of over 13% compared to the previous year.
The increase was achieved through a comprehensive traffic and operational plan, implemented in close coordination with the Dubai Event Security Committee, relevant authorities, and strategic partners. The plan included efficient traffic management, temporary road closures, and enhanced public transport services across the emirate.
According to official data, the total number of users of public transport, taxis, e-hailing services, marine transport, and shared mobility reached 2,836,859 passengers, compared to 2,502,474 passengers on New Year’s Eve 2025.
Dubai Metro remained the most used mode of transport, with 1,249,636 passengers travelling on the Red and Green Lines. The Dubai Tram served 58,052 passengers, while public buses and bus-on-demand services recorded 503,264 users.
Taxi services transported 661,538 passengers, reflecting strong demand during peak celebration hours. Marine transport services carried 76,745 passengers, while e-hailing platforms recorded 286,135 trips. Additionally, shared mobility services were used by 1,489 passengers.
RTA stated that the smooth execution of the approved operational plan ensured safe, efficient, and seamless movement of residents and visitors to celebration venues. The authority highlighted that these results further reinforce Dubai’s global reputation as a city capable of managing large-scale events in line with international standards of safety and efficiency.
