RTA Partners with Swiftly to Boost Real-Time Passenger Info Accuracy

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced a significant partnership with Swiftly, a leading American transit data service provider, aimed at enhancing the accuracy and reliability of the Real-Time Passenger Information (RTPI) system. This collaboration is set to improve the overall experience for public transport users in Dubai by providing more accurate, up-to-date information on bus arrivals and locations, helping commuters plan their journeys with greater confidence.

As part of this initiative, the RTA will integrate Swiftly's cutting-edge technology across its RTPI platforms. This includes RTA’s S’hail app and various third-party Journey Planner platforms, all of which serve as critical tools for passengers seeking real-time updates on public transportation schedules. The primary goal of this partnership is to ensure that passengers have access to more precise information regarding bus arrival times, locations, and any possible delays, resulting in enhanced customer satisfaction and increased public transport usage in Dubai.

The new system uses advanced big data technologies to improve the accuracy of bus arrival predictions. By factoring in real-time traffic conditions, potential delays, and any disruptions to service, the RTPI system will be able to provide passengers with more accurate predictions, making public transport a more reliable option for everyday commuters.

Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency, emphasized the importance of this partnership in delivering a better experience for public transport users. "Our collaboration with Swiftly is a key step towards improving the accuracy of real-time bus location updates. It will significantly benefit passengers by ensuring that they are informed of potential delays due to traffic conditions, accidents, or other external factors. With the use of big data-based solutions, the accuracy of bus arrival predictions will be enhanced, allowing passengers to better manage their time and avoid unnecessary waiting at bus stops."

Bahrozyan also highlighted how this partnership would positively impact overall public transport usage, as reliable information is essential for building trust among commuters. By providing passengers with timely and accurate data, RTA hopes to encourage more people to use public transportation, contributing to Dubai’s long-term sustainability goals.
