Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully completed a series of significant traffic enhancements in Oud Metha, part of its ambitious 2024 Quick Traffic Solutions Plan. This initiative aims to optimize the road network across Dubai, reflecting RTA’s commitment to bolstering infrastructure in line with urban expansion and the increasing population.

The recent improvements are designed to facilitate smoother traffic flow and enhance road safety for all users. Among the key upgrades are enhancements to entry and exit points along Umm Hurair Street leading into Oud Metha. The RTA has added 317-meter deceleration and acceleration lanes, which significantly improve the management of inbound and outbound traffic.

Furthermore, the service road exit on Umm Hurair Street has been expanded from two to three lanes over a distance of 100 meters. This expansion increases road capacity by 50% and is projected to cut journey times by as much as 40%. These changes are crucial for easing congestion and ensuring that traffic moves efficiently throughout the area.

Hamad Al Shehhi, the Director of Roads at the Traffic and Roads Agency of the RTA, emphasized the importance of these upgrades. He stated, “RTA has implemented a series of quick enhancements, including improvements to road lighting, to facilitate smoother traffic flow while supporting both population growth and the thriving business activities in Oud Metha.” This area is home to a variety of residential, commercial, medical, social, cultural, and sports facilities, and the new measures are expected to contribute to reducing accidents and maintaining the highest safety standards.

In addition to the enhancements mentioned, RTA has expanded Street No. 2 towards Umm Hurair Roundabout, aiming to alleviate traffic queues. Surface improvements to the roundabout itself have been made, and the number of turning lanes has been increased from two to three, enhancing access and exit for visitors and improving overall traffic flow in all directions.

To further accommodate motorists, RTA has introduced 27 new parking spaces throughout the area. These additional spots are especially beneficial for those visiting commercial establishments, thereby enhancing public satisfaction with the overall infrastructure and road networks. This initiative aligns with Dubai's vision of becoming the world’s best city to live in.

Overall, these enhancements represent a significant step forward in improving traffic management in Oud Metha, ensuring a safer and more efficient travel experience for all road users.
