Dubai Metro operations continue to be impacted following the unprecedented rainfall that hit the UAE last week. Although the Red Line is now operational in both directions, services are still not stopping at four stations: Onpassive, Equiti, Al Mashreq, and Energy.
This disruption has led to significant crowding at stations across the emirate, particularly during peak hours. In response, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued an advisory urging commuters to avoid using the Metro during peak hours and plan their journeys according to the operational stations until normal service resumes at all stops.

Additionally, the RTA announced changes to the Dubai Metro Red Line schedule due to ongoing efforts to manage the impacts on certain stations. Currently, the Metro is operational from Centrepoint to Expo 2020 and UAE exchange stations. However, commuters traveling from Centrepoint Metro station are required to change to another station at Business Bay or Al Khail stations. RTA ensures smooth transfers to the following stations either by replacing trains or diverting traffic to buses.
To facilitate this, commuters must alight at Business Bay or Al Khail stations and utilize shuttle buses to reach the next station. However, some commuters have complained about infrequent shuttle bus services exacerbating their travel difficulties.
Journalist Laraib Anwer reported overcrowding at Abu Hail station on Monday morning. Metro authorities, tasked with crowd management, instructed passengers to wait at the ground level before allowing platform access. Some commuters waited for over 20 minutes before gaining access to the platforms.
Meanwhile, there was a significant rush of commuters at the Red Business Bay Metro Station (Al Safa side) on Monday morning, leading to increased traffic volume on Sheikh Zayed Road near Al Safa toll gate towards the World Trade Centre.
The RTA has urged commuters to adhere to instruction signages at metro stations and seek guidance from Dubai Metro staff to navigate the disruptions effectively.
