Rory McIlroy to Play in Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in November
Rory McIlroy, one of the world’s top golfers and a five-time major winner, is coming back to Abu Dhabi this November. He will play at Yas Links Golf Course in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, a big golf tournament that brings together the best players from around the world.
This tournament will take place from November 6 to 9, 2025. It is very special because it is the first event of the DP World Tour Play-Offs, a series of final tournaments at the end of the golf season. After this event, the last big tournament will happen in Dubai.

Rory McIlroy is currently leading the Race to Dubai, a yearly ranking that shows how well players are doing in the DP World Tour. He got to the top spot after winning the Masters at Augusta National and playing very well at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic earlier this year.
The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship is hosted by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the DP World Tour. It is celebrating its 20th year and will include the top 70 players from the current season. It’s also one of the major Rolex Series events, which are some of the most important tournaments in golf.
Rory said, “I’ve started the year well, and I’ve always played well at Yas Links. I hope I can keep playing strong and try to win the Race to Dubai again.”
This tournament is not only important for golf fans but also for Abu Dhabi’s sports tourism. Big events like this bring more visitors to the UAE and help show the world that Abu Dhabi is a great place for sports and international competitions.
