Singer Ray J has filed a lawsuit against Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, over alleged false statements regarding the infamous 2003 sex tape featuring Kardashian and the rapper. The suit comes in response to legal action filed by Kardashian and Jenner against Ray J for comments he made about them.
Ray J, whose real name is William Ray Norwood Jr., claims in court documents that Kim and Kris have spent nearly two decades spreading a false narrative that the sex tape was leaked against Kardashian’s will. According to him, it was Kardashian herself who, in 2006, insisted that her mother manage the release and commercial exploitation of the tape.
The singer also accuses Kardashian, Jenner, and Kim’s former husband Kanye West of falsely alleging that Ray J sexually assaulted Kardashian while she slept and that he released the tape as revenge porn. He further states that when he pursued legal action against the family in the past, they opted to settle out of court, paying him $6 million. In his current lawsuit, Ray J is seeking $1 million in damages.
Earlier this year, in October, Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner filed a lawsuit against Ray J citing “defamation” and “false light publicity.” Their attorneys claimed that the singer made false statements suggesting that the duo was being investigated under federal racketeering laws (RICO). According to the Los Angeles Times, Kardashian and Jenner argued that Ray J’s claims were entirely untrue, stating that no law enforcement agency had initiated any criminal proceedings or investigations against them regarding racketeering.
The allegations reportedly originated from a documentary about rap mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who is currently serving a prison sentence. Ray J is said to have reinforced these claims in a Twitch livestream, asserting that he possesses even more “embarrassing” information about Kim and Kris.
Legal experts note that these counter-lawsuits could escalate the ongoing feud between Ray J and the Kardashian-Jenner family, who have long been entangled in legal and public disputes over the sex tape and its aftermath.
The development highlights the enduring controversy surrounding the 2003 tape, which has remained a significant and controversial part of both parties’ public narratives. Whether Ray J’s latest legal move will shift public perception or lead to another settlement remains uncertain, but it underscores the continuing tension between the parties decades after the tape’s release.
The case is set to unfold in court, with both sides preparing to present their arguments. Fans and observers remain attentive, anticipating whether this high-profile legal battle will result in further revelations or financial settlements.
