A remarkable discovery unfolded in the Al Dhaid area of Sharjah when a UAE citizen unearthed a sealed Pepsi-Cola bottle dating back to the 1960s, proudly bearing the name 'Dubai' in Arabic. Despite the passage of decades and varied weather conditions, the bottle remained tightly sealed, preserving both its contents and the inscription intact—a testament to the exceptional quality of the product during that era.
Ali Rashid Al Ketbi, a dedicated heritage enthusiast and researcher, stumbled upon this rare find while exploring the region following heavy rains that exposed buried artifacts. As he traced the course of a wadi, he noticed erosion had revealed previously hidden items. Continuing his exploration, he eventually reached a rocky area where he uncovered the sealed Pepsi-Cola bottle, a relic originating from the Dubai Refreshments Company.

Reflecting on his discovery, Al Ketbi shared, "Being a collector of old items, I often inquired with local elders about relics in the area. The valley's flooding revealed some hidden treasures. I followed the path along the valley until I stumbled upon the bottle."
He further explained, "Natural forces, such as the valley's shifting sands, often play a crucial role in unveiling artifacts and ancient settlements."
The bottle, identified as a product of the Dubai Refreshments Company established in 1958, was dated to 1962 based on production and completion codes. Nestled among rocks, it serves as a poignant reminder of Dubai's early trading history and the forward-thinking vision of its founder, the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
Currently pursuing his doctorate in Islamic History and Civilization, Ali Al Ketbi's passion for heritage, coupled with his interest in weather patterns and Sharjah's history, inspired his exploration of the area following heavy rains.
