Dubai encountered flash flooding on Tuesday due to heavy rainfall, leading to significant disruptions in both air and ground transportation. Shocking videos circulated on social media, depicting Dubai International Airport's tarmac submerged underwater, with large aircrafts navigating through the floodwaters. Numerous inbound and outbound flights were reportedly cancelled amidst the chaos.
The airport, ranked as the world's second-busiest, resembled a river as the spray from plane movements rippled through the deep water. This deluge comes as the UAE experiences its highest rainfall in 75 years.

Reports indicate that the airport shut down for 30 minutes, with several flights diverted due to major flooding on access roads leading to the airport, severely hampering operations. However, authorities assured that departures would continue as scheduled.
Dubai Airports issued a statement, assuring that efforts were underway to restore normal operations and minimize inconvenience to travelers. They urged passengers to stay updated with their airlines for the latest flight information, allow extra travel time, and utilize the Dubai metro whenever possible.
Simultaneously, the UAE's National Centre of Meteorology issued a red alert as weather conditions worsened across the country, advising residents to remain extremely vigilant. The department highlighted high-risk areas through color-coded alerts, ranging from yellow to red.
Weather observations at the airport revealed that nearly 4 inches (100 mm) of rain fell within a mere 12-hour period on Tuesday, an amount comparable to Dubai's average annual rainfall, according to United Nations data.
