Britain’s Prince William shared a positive update on his wife, Kate, revealing that she is "doing really well" after undergoing preventive chemotherapy for cancer. Speaking from Cape Town, South Africa, where he is preparing to host the prestigious Earthshot Prize awards ceremony, William acknowledged the challenges Kate has faced over the past year, but praised her strength and resilience.
While Prince William is in South Africa for the event, Kate remained in the UK to continue her recovery. He shared that, despite her absence, she would be supporting him from home. "She’s been amazing this whole year, and I know she will be really keen to see tonight be a success," he said.
Kate, who has been undergoing treatment as a precautionary measure, has shown great strength, with Prince William emphasizing her recovery and unwavering support during this challenging time. The couple, who share three children—Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6—has made it a point to incorporate environmental values into their daily lives. William spoke about their family’s commitment to eco-friendly practices, including recycling, minimizing water usage, and turning off lights when not in use.

William’s visit to South Africa is in support of the Earthshot Prize, an environmental initiative he founded in 2020 to recognize groundbreaking innovations addressing climate change and other environmental issues. Modeled after U.S. President John F. Kennedy's "moonshot" initiative, the Earthshot Prize awards £1 million ($1.3 million) annually to five winners, providing funding to accelerate their environmental projects.
The award ceremony in Cape Town will showcase the importance of tackling climate challenges, with a special focus on the younger generation. Prince William believes that the young people attending the ceremony, especially from Africa, will bring a sense of urgency and hope to environmental causes. "Without them, the future is looking pretty bleak," he remarked.
Although the Earthshot Prize has faced a difficult political climate in certain regions, William remains optimistic, emphasizing the need for hope and innovation in the fight against climate change. As he prepares to lead the award ceremony, he hopes the event will inspire positive change and shine a light on the solutions that can help protect the planet.
