Prince Harry’s US Green Card May Pose Financial Threat to Royals: Rare Golden Visa

Prince Harry’s residency status in the United States continues to generate speculation, with various reports suggesting he may hold a diplomatic visa. This decision could have significant financial implications for both Harry and the Royal Family. One prominent theory is that Prince Harry might be on an A-1 diplomatic visa, which would grant him the ability to reside in the U.S. without the need for permanent residency or a green card. This could also help the Royal Family avoid certain financial obligations, particularly regarding the disclosure of sensitive financial information to U.S. tax authorities.

Experts believe that the Royal Family might prefer Prince Harry to remain on a diplomatic visa, as it offers key financial protections. An A-1 visa would allow Harry to stay in the U.S. without having to disclose his global income to the IRS, which could include earnings from family trusts and other sources in the U.K. This, in turn, would prevent the Royal Family from having to reveal intricate financial details about their shared assets. Keeping Harry on a diplomatic visa is seen as a way to safeguard the family's financial privacy while allowing him to live in the U.S. without major tax obligations.

Concerns have arisen that if Prince Harry were to obtain a U.S. green card, it could create a complex financial situation for the Royal Family. U.S. tax laws require permanent residents to disclose their global income, which could expose Harry’s financial ties with the Royal Family. This would include any income from trusts set up by his late grandmother, the Queen Mother, or other British assets. Such a move would make him liable for U.S. taxes on his global earnings, which is something the Royal Family would likely want to avoid. A green card would force Harry to provide a full account of his worldwide income, whereas a diplomatic visa would allow him to pay taxes only on his U.S.-based income.

A lawsuit has been filed by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, requesting that the Department of Homeland Security disclose Prince Harry’s visa status. The foundation claims that Harry may have received special treatment upon his entry into the U.S. and argues that the public has a right to know the details of his residency. Despite a court order requiring the DHS to release this information, the case remains unresolved, and Harry’s visa status is still unknown.

For now, it seems that Prince Harry’s diplomatic visa, if he holds one, provides him with significant advantages, including a lower tax burden and the ability to live in the U.S. without risking the financial privacy of the Royal Family. However, should he pursue permanent residency or U.S. citizenship in the future, the financial implications could become more complicated, both for him and for the broader Royal Family. The question of his U.S. residency status continues to be a subject of public intrigue and legal debate.
