Prince Harry Faces Criticism for 'Arrogant' Court Appeal, Security Costs

Royal biographer Angela Levin has sharply criticized Prince Harry, admonishing him to bear the costs of his own security following his appeal regarding his arrangements while in the UK. Levin's remarks come after reports that Harry had sought to expedite the appeal process, allegedly to accommodate a planned world tour with his wife, Meghan Markle.

Levin highlighted what she perceived as arrogance on the part of the Duke of Sussex, particularly regarding his attempt to prioritize his appeal in the courts. Lord Justice Bean had previously cautioned Harry against expecting preferential treatment solely due to his royal status.

Expressing her views on the matter, Levin stressed that it would be unacceptable for Harry and Meghan to utilize taxpayer funds for their international travels. She emphasized that the British public would strongly oppose such expenditures, especially if it meant providing high-level security for the couple during their global ventures.

Levin speculated on Harry and Meghan's future plans, suggesting that they might spend considerable time in Africa following their successful trip to Nigeria. However, she warned against the expectation of receiving the same level of protection as when they were active members of the royal family.

Responding to queries about Harry's entitlement to top-tier security due to his royal lineage, Levin emphasized the distinction between official royal duties and personal endeavors. She underscored that if Harry chooses to step away from royal obligations, he must accept a corresponding decrease in security provided by the government.

In conclusion, Levin reiterated the principle that individuals who relinquish royal titles cannot expect the same privileges and protections afforded to active royals. She emphasized that while Harry has the option to finance his own security, he cannot reasonably expect taxpayers to foot the bill for him and his family indefinitely.
