Plane Crash in Boca Raton Kills 3, Car Hit by Debris

A small plane crashed in Boca Raton, Florida, on Friday morning, killing all three people on board. The crash happened shortly after the plane took off from Boca Raton Airport. The plane was on its way to Tallahassee International Airport when it suddenly went down after about 8 to 10 minutes in the air.

According to Michael LaSalle, the assistant fire chief for Boca Fire Rescue, the plane appeared to have mechanical problems before crashing on Military Trail. The crash also caused a car on the ground to get involved. One person in the car was injured, but luckily, their injuries were not life-threatening. The car crashed into a tree due to debris and fire from the plane.

The plane, a Cessna 310R, crashed near a road and railroad tracks, causing a large fire. Firefighters quickly put out the flames. Dillon Smith, who was at his office nearby, saw the plane flying unusually low. He thought the plane might crash into a building, but then it seemed to turn around and head back toward the Boca Raton Airport. After that, he saw the plane drop below the trees and heard a loud crash followed by a fireball. His office windows even shook from the impact.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the crash. Kurt Gibson, an investigator with the NTSB, said the wreckage will be sent to a special facility for further examination. Investigators are collecting video footage and talking to witnesses to understand what caused the crash. A report will be released in about 30 days.

Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer expressed his condolences, saying, "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and all affected."
