Pat Cummins made history during the T20 World Cup Super Eight clash between Australia and Bangladesh in Antigua on Thursday. His exceptional performance with the ball saw him secure a hat-trick, a rare feat in T20 cricket, as Australia restricted Bangladesh to 140-8 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound.
Cummins' feat came as he dismissed Mahmudullah, Mahedi Hasan, and Towhid Hridoy in successive deliveries spread across two overs. Returning to the starting lineup, Cummins finished with figures of 3-29 from his four overs, showcasing his skill and accuracy under pressure. Spinner Adam Zampa also contributed significantly with 2-24, further bolstering Australia's bowling effort.
Earlier in the match, Mitchell Starc achieved a significant milestone by becoming the leading wicket-taker in the history of white-ball cricket World Cups, claiming his 95th wicket after dismissing Tanzid Hasan in the opening over. This achievement surpassed the record previously held by Sri Lanka's Lasith Malinga.

Australia, under the captaincy of Mitchell Marsh, elected to bowl first after winning the toss. Starc's early breakthrough set the tone, and Australia's bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings. Josh Hazlewood, reintroduced into the side, started with a maiden over, adding to Bangladesh's early struggles.
Despite a brief period of aggression from Najmul Hossain Shanto and Litton Das, who managed boundaries against Starc and Hazlewood, respectively, Bangladesh found it challenging to accelerate. Zampa's introduction further stifled their progress, with Das losing his wicket to a well-executed sweep shot in the ninth over.
Glenn Maxwell and Zampa continued to tighten the screws, accounting for crucial wickets in the middle overs. Shanto's departure for 41 off Zampa's bowling in the 13th over dealt a significant blow to Bangladesh's hopes of posting a formidable total.
Cummins then returned to dismiss the lower-order batsmen, ensuring Bangladesh finished their innings with a modest total of 140-8. Australia, with a target of 141 runs for victory, approached their chase confidently after a disciplined bowling performance that left Bangladesh struggling throughout their innings.
