David Pastrnak made history by becoming the sixth player in Boston Bruins history to score 400 career goals. His remarkable two-goal, one-assist performance helped Boston secure a 5-3 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night. The milestone goal came just 49 seconds into the second period, giving the Bruins control in a game that extended their winning streak to seven.

Boston took charge from the very beginning, taking advantage of Toronto’s defensive struggles. Pavel Zacha opened the scoring for the Bruins at 4:27 in the first period, redirecting a wrist shot from Pastrnak into the net. The Maple Leafs briefly tied the game at 1-1 after Steven Lorentz scored a short-handed goal, but the Bruins quickly responded with two more power-play goals to end the period with a commanding lead.

Hampus Lindholm made it 2-1 for Boston with a sharp shot from the left point through traffic at 9:32. The puck sailed past Toronto’s goaltender Anthony Stolarz, who struggled early and allowed three goals on 10 shots. Later in the period, Alex Steeves scored his first career goal for the Bruins, making it 3-1 with just over two minutes left in the opening frame. Steeves, a New Hampshire native and former Toronto player, beat Stolarz with a shot through the five-hole.

Just 49 seconds into the second period, Pastrnak scored his 400th NHL goal, joining an elite group of Bruins legends. The goal came after a smart pass from Morgan Geekie, allowing Pastrnak to fake out Toronto’s backup goaltender Dennis Hildeby and score from close range. The crowd erupted in celebration as the Finnish star hit this major career mark.

Despite the Bruins’ strong start, the Maple Leafs showed resilience. Bobby McMann scored late in the second period during a power play, cutting the deficit to 4-2. Max Domi set up the goal with a clever pass from the wing. In the third period, Oliver Ekman-Larsson brought Toronto even closer with a long-range shot that slipped through traffic and beat Boston’s goaltender Jeremy Swayman, making it 4-3 early in the frame.

Boston did not panic after Toronto’s push. Pastrnak struck again midway through the third period, scoring his second goal of the night — and 401st of his career — on a power play. Mark Kastelic assisted on the play, helping the Bruins restore their two-goal cushion. Pastrnak’s performance capped off a memorable night for the 28-year-old forward, who continues to shine as one of the NHL’s top scorers.

Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman made 29 saves, earning his fourth consecutive victory. He kept his composure during Toronto’s late surge and denied several key chances. Hampus Lindholm and Charlie McAvoy each contributed two assists, showing Boston’s defensive depth and playmaking strength. The Bruins were efficient on both special teams, going 3-for-6 on power plays and killing off four of Toronto’s five man advantages.

Toronto’s night went from bad to worse when star forward Auston Matthews left the game in the second period after a heavy hit from Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov. The injury appeared to affect his lower body, and he did not return. Goaltender Anthony Stolarz was also forced to exit early due to an upper-body issue, making it a challenging evening for the Maple Leafs, who now face a three-game losing streak.

With the win, Boston improved to 7-0 in its last seven games and remains one of the top teams in the league. Their combination of experience, special teams efficiency, and strong leadership from players like Pastrnak continues to set them apart. The Bruins’ offense has been especially sharp, averaging over four goals per game during their current streak.

The Bruins will look to extend their winning run when they face their next opponent at home, while the Maple Leafs will focus on recovering from injuries and finding consistency. Pastrnak’s milestone adds another proud chapter to Boston’s rich hockey history, reminding fans that he is on pace to join the all-time greats of the franchise.
