Nablus, Palestinian Territories: On Tuesday, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club reported that an 18-year-old Palestinian, recently released during a truce in the Gaza conflict, was shot and killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank.
Tariq Ziad Abdul Rahim Daoud was one of many Palestinian prisoners freed on November 25 as part of a week-long ceasefire that involved swapping Palestinian detainees for Israeli hostages held in Gaza since the October 7 conflict. Daoud was killed on Monday by Israeli troops near Azzun, east of Qalqilya, according to the Palestinian health ministry in Ramallah.
The Israeli military has claimed that Daoud was involved in a shooting incident where he allegedly fired at an Israeli civilian in Qalqilya. This claim is contested by the Palestinian side, which accuses Israeli forces of unjustified violence.

Following Daoud’s death, Hamas issued a statement mourning him and asserting that he was a member of its armed wing. The surge in violence in the West Bank since the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel has led to significant casualties. According to AFP, at least 619 Palestinians have died due to Israeli military actions or settler violence. In the same period, Israeli officials report at least 18 Israeli deaths, including soldiers, from Palestinian attacks.
The conflict continues to escalate, further straining relations and heightening tensions in the region.
