Pakistan’s interim head coach and selector, Aaqib Javed, has taken a crucial step to strengthen his team ahead of their highly anticipated Champions Trophy match against India. To give the players an extra edge, Aaqib has brought in former cricketer and experienced coach Mudassar Nazar to assist in the team's preparations.
Mudassar, who has been living in Dubai for several years and works at the ICC Academy, has deep knowledge of the local conditions. His expertise could be valuable as Pakistan gears up for their must-win encounter against their biggest rivals on Sunday. A source close to the team revealed that Mudassar joined Pakistan's net session in Dubai on Friday and will continue assisting the squad on Saturday. His main role is to provide insights into how the pitch and weather conditions might influence the game and help players adjust their strategies accordingly.
The former Pakistan coach has years of experience, having also worked with teams like Kenya and the UAE. He previously served as the Director of the PCB High Performance Centre in Lahore, where he played a crucial role in shaping young cricketers. His guidance could be significant as Pakistan looks to bounce back from their opening defeat against New Zealand. With their hopes of reaching the knockout stage hanging by a thread, a win against India is crucial.
On the other side, Indian batting star Virat Kohli has been putting in extra hours of practice ahead of the high-stakes game. Determined to improve his performance, Kohli arrived at the ICC Academy in Dubai two hours before his scheduled practice session. His main focus has been on sharpening his skills against spin bowling, which has troubled him in recent matches.

Kohli, who had a tough time with deliveries outside the off-stump during India’s Test series in Australia, has also struggled against spinners in ODIs. In India's opening Champions Trophy match against Bangladesh, he was dismissed by leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, marking his sixth consecutive ODI dismissal to a spinner.
The 36-year-old batter has faced similar issues against England’s Adil Rashid in past games, and with Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed in the opposition squad, he knows he needs to be at his best. With a fierce contest ahead, Kohli’s preparation could play a key role in determining India’s success in the crucial match on Sunday.
Both teams are leaving no stone unturned as they prepare for one of the most exciting fixtures in cricket. While Pakistan is banking on expert advice from Mudassar Nazar, India’s star batsman is working hard to overcome his weaknesses. Fans around the world eagerly await this thrilling encounter, which could have a major impact on the tournament's outcome.
