New Delhi: A shooting in Toronto has left one person dead and several others injured. The incident happened in the Lawrence Heights neighborhood of North York, according to local news reports.
The Toronto Police confirmed that five people were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds, but none of these injuries are life-threatening.
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow shared her concern on social media, saying, "I am disturbed by the news of the shootings in Lawrence Heights tonight. My office is in touch with the Toronto Police, who are at the scene and investigating the situation. We are also in contact with Deputy Mayor Mike Colle, the local councillor."

She also thanked the police, fire department, and paramedics for their hard work, saying, "Thank you to all first responders for your efforts at this busy and difficult scene. The police will provide more updates soon."
Local media reports say the whole area around the shooting has been blocked off as police continue their search for the person responsible. The investigation is ongoing.
