A sad and tragic event happened in Oklahoma, USA. A 58-year-old man named Rodney Shippy shot and killed his 10-year-old son, Logan, and their family dog inside their home. After that, Rodney took his own life. Police found the bodies of Rodney, Logan, and the dog when they came to the house on Wednesday. They were there because relatives were worried and had told the police that Rodney’s daughter, Alyssa, had been missing since November.

Later, police also found the body of Alyssa, who was 20 years old, inside the house. Because of the poor condition of the home, officers did not see her body at first. The medical examiner is now checking to find out what caused her death.

The family shared their sadness on a GoFundMe page. They said they are heartbroken over losing Alyssa and Logan, who were brother and sister. The family also said that they are struggling with the grief and are not ready for the financial costs of the funerals.

This tragic event is not the first loss the family has faced. In August 2022, Rodney’s wife, Lisa Shippy, died by suicide in the same house. Five months later, Lisa’s mother, Diane Carpenter, was killed by her husband, Kenny Carpenter, who then took his own life after a long standoff with the police in January 2023.

No clear reason has been found for the recent killings. However, public records show that Rodney might have been in financial trouble. He was close to losing the house he bought with his wife in 2021. Earlier this year, the bank filed a notice to take the house because Rodney had not paid $135,000. He was given time until June to respond to this notice.

Neighbors said that Logan, the 10-year-old boy, had autism and could not speak. They also said the house was in very bad condition and was not safe for children. Patti Williams, a relative, described the house as having no running water and being full of trash. She said it looked like a very different home from before.

Another relative said that after Lisa died, Rodney tried to stay strong for a few months but then started to withdraw from everyone. This sad story shows how much the family has suffered in a short time and how hard life became for them. The police investigation is still going on.
