A well-balanced diet is the real secret behind glowing skin and strong hair. While many people spend money on creams, serums, or shampoos, experts say true beauty starts from within. Nutritionist Shalini Sudhakar has shared a simple homemade recipe that helps improve skin and hair health — and it takes only 10 minutes to prepare.
In a video shared on her Instagram account, Shalini introduced her special “Protein and Collagen Laddu” made with just three common ingredients — aliv seeds, whole black urad dal, and black sesame seeds. According to her, these ingredients are rich in nutrients that help reduce hair fall, improve skin texture, and boost natural glow.
A natural boost for skin and hair
Shalini explained that our diet plays a bigger role in skin and hair care than any external product. “Your skin and hair care is more about what you eat than what you apply,” she said.
She added that this simple laddu helps the body produce collagen — a natural protein that keeps skin smooth, firm, and youthful. It also makes hair stronger and shinier. “If you want naturally glowing skin and healthy, shining hair, this recipe is for you,” Shalini said.
The three power ingredients
1. Aliv seeds (garden cress seeds):
Shalini explained that aliv seeds are rich in iron, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamin C. These nutrients help reduce hair fall, strengthen hair roots, and support faster growth. They also improve blood flow to the scalp, which keeps hair thick and shiny.
2. Whole black urad dal:
This ingredient is a high-quality plant protein source. It helps the body make more collagen, which is important for both skin and hair health. “Collagen keeps your skin healthy from the inside, not just on the surface,” Shalini explained. Regular intake can make your skin look younger and smoother.
3. Black sesame seeds:
Known for their calcium and folate, these seeds help clear skin pigmentation and reduce wrinkles. Shalini said they also boost collagen production, helping to make the skin even-toned and soft. The nutrients in sesame seeds protect the skin from ageing and dryness, giving a fresh glow.
A quick 10-minute recipe
Shalini described her laddu as easy to make and ideal for anyone looking for a fast, healthy snack. The preparation takes less than 10 minutes.
To make it, roast all three ingredients lightly, grind them into a powder, and mix with a little jaggery or honey to form small laddus. These can be stored for several days and eaten daily as a nutritious bite.
“This is not only tasty but also very good for your skin and hair,” Shalini said. She suggested having one laddu every day to see visible improvement over time.
Beauty from within
The nutritionist reminded her viewers that skincare products can only help from the outside, while food works from the inside. “When protein, vitamins, and minerals work together, they give your skin and hair a natural glow,” she said.
She added that consistent healthy eating, drinking enough water, and sleeping well are also important for overall beauty and wellness.
Shalini’s simple three-ingredient laddu proves that taking care of your skin and hair doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. Sometimes, the most powerful beauty treatments are already sitting in your kitchen — all it takes is a few minutes and the right mix of nutrients to glow naturally.
