Elon Musk revealed that his highly anticipated interview with Donald Trump had been significantly impacted by a cyber attack on his social media platform, X. Musk, who is known for his wealth and recent support of Trump, announced on X that there was “a massive DDoS attack” affecting the platform, which was formerly known as Twitter. He assured users that efforts were underway to address and resolve the issue.
The interview, which aimed to boost Trump’s faltering campaign, encountered technical difficulties due to the attack. Musk, who has previously stated he voted Democrat, has recently aligned himself with Trump, particularly after a gunman attempted to assassinate the former president at a rally last month. Trump’s reinstatement on the platform was one of Musk’s early moves after acquiring and renaming Twitter.
Musk’s announcement came as an embarrassment to both him and Trump, as the conversation was expected to rejuvenate Trump’s campaign efforts, which have struggled since President Joe Biden exited the race. The disruption of the interview further complicates the situation for Trump, whose campaign is already facing challenges.
To mitigate the impact, Musk mentioned that the system had been tested with up to 8 million concurrent listeners earlier in the day. He promised to release an unedited audio recording of the interview at a later date, following the resolution of the technical issues.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about platform security and the challenges of hosting high-profile events on social media platforms. Despite the setbacks, both Musk and Trump remain committed to addressing the issues and continuing their political and public engagements
