Mohammed bin Rashid visits International Defence Exhibition in Abu Dhabi

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited the 17th edition of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX 2025) at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi.

During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed spoke about the importance of having strong defense systems. He said that powerful defense capabilities help protect the country, ensuring peace and security for the future. He also praised the rapid progress of the UAE’s defense industry, which has been developing advanced military equipment and technologies. This growth not only meets the nation’s defense needs but also boosts the economy by creating jobs and increasing the global presence of Emirati companies.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed delegates and exhibitors worldwide and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening partnerships and encouraging innovation. He acknowledged the progress made by the UAE’s defense sector and its contribution to the country’s overall development.

Sheikh Mohammed pointed out that IDEX plays a key role in shaping the future of defense industries and technologies. He emphasized that the UAE wants to be a global hub for innovation, development, and strategic cooperation. By working with international partners, the country aims to improve security, promote peace, and create opportunities for long-term growth.

As part of his visit, Sheikh Mohammed explored various sections of the exhibition, which is the largest edition of IDEX to date. This year’s event has attracted 1,565 companies from 65 countries, marking a 16% increase from the previous edition. The total exhibition space has also expanded by 10%, now covering 181,501 square meters. A remarkable 731 companies participated for the first time, an 82% rise, while 213 Emirati companies made up 16% of all exhibitors. This expansion highlights IDEX’s importance as a global defense industry platform, where top companies showcase their latest innovations to enhance global security.

During the tour, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on the UAE’s increased participation in the event. He highlighted IDEX’s role in strengthening the national defense sector and making Emirati products more competitive on a global scale.

He visited several pavilions, including the Turkish pavilion, where he viewed advanced defense and security solutions, such as Otokar’s display of five armoured vehicles. At the EDGE pavilion, he reviewed the company’s latest products, including 46 newly launched systems and technologies.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by key officials, including His Excellency Mohammed bin Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs; His Excellency Staff Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces; and His Excellency Major General Mubarak Saeed Ghafan Al Jabri, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee of IDEX and NAVDEX 2025.

IDEX 2025 is organized by ADNEC Group in partnership with the Ministry of Defence and the Tawazun Council. It brings together top defense companies and experts from around the world to present the latest military technologies and systems. The exhibition features innovations in land and air combat, as well as cybersecurity and artificial intelligence applications.

Sheikh Mohammed’s visit to IDEX 2025 reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to progress, innovation, and global partnerships in the defense sector. His presence at the event highlights the country’s vision of securing a peaceful and prosperous future for all.
