Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has unveiled plans for the development of the Logistics Hub for Foodstuffs, Fruit, and Vegetable Trade, set to be the largest facility of its kind globally. This initiative is part of Dubai's strategic vision to enhance investment opportunities and bolster economic growth, aligning with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double Dubai's economy and position it among the top three economic cities in the world by 2033.
Sheikh Mohammed stated, “Today, we have launched our plan to develop the largest logistics hub in the world for the trade of foodstuffs, fruits, and vegetables. This expansion and doubling of the current market area will support our economic agenda and create larger commercial and investment opportunities. We have entrusted DP World with the management, operation, and development of the market, linking it with markets globally.”
He emphasized Dubai’s strategic advantages, including its prime location and advanced infrastructure, which make it a preferred commercial and investment hub. “Our efforts will double in the coming period to enhance the emirate's role in creating investment opportunities for global companies and youth, integrating them into developmental projects. Dubai aims to be a leading destination for markets, export, and re-export operations across various sectors, maximizing economic opportunities for investors in this field,” he added.

In a significant step towards realizing this vision, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance of the UAE, witnessed the signing of a partnership agreement between Dubai Municipality and DP World. The agreement, which marks the creation and management of the 'Foodstuffs, Fruits and Vegetables Market,' was signed by His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, and His Excellency Dawood Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality.
Sheikh Maktoum highlighted that Dubai’s progress under Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s vision aims to achieve ambitious economic goals, including positioning Dubai among the top three global economic cities by 2033. He noted, “The new project will create new economic opportunities and a better investment environment in this crucial food sector, supporting Dubai's D33 economic vision.”
His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem remarked on Dubai’s role as a global model for investment and trade, emphasizing that the new logistics hub will strengthen Dubai’s position in the global food trade market. “Due to its strategic location, Dubai has become a global market for food trade, especially fruits and vegetables. This sector is witnessing increasing growth in both local markets and exports, indicating immense opportunities that can be leveraged through strategic projects that Dubai continues to develop,” he said.
He added that the establishment and expansion of the Foodstuffs, Fruits, and Vegetables Market would drive significant growth in Dubai’s economy by offering innovative logistical and financial solutions.
His Excellency Dawood Al Hajri echoed these sentiments, stating that the agreement reflects Dubai’s ongoing efforts to enhance its competitiveness and appeal as a global trade hub. He noted that the project aims to improve the quality of life for residents and establish Dubai as a premier destination for investment, living, and working.
The development of this logistics hub is a testament to Dubai’s commitment to fostering a dynamic and sustainable economic environment, attracting global investments, and offering unparalleled opportunities in the food trade sector. As Dubai continues to implement its visionary projects, the emirate is set to reinforce its status as a leading international trade and investment hub.
