The Gulf’s first temple in Abu Dhabi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate Abu Dhabi's inaugural temple on February 14, marking a notable event following the recent inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Constructed entirely from pink sandstone, the temple is part of the BAPS Group's global chain of temples. The inauguration aligns with PM Modi's visit to the UAE, including Qatar after the resolution of charges, resulting in the release of eight former Indian Navy men allegedly convicted on espionage charges.
Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra highlighted the significance of the BAPS temple's inauguration during Modi's UAE visit. The Prime Minister is also slated to address the Indian community at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi. Kwatra stated that, based on current information, approximately 5,000 devotees are expected to visit the temple on the inauguration day.
The temple occupies a 27-acre plot granted on lease by President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, showcasing the collaborative efforts between India and the UAE. The architectural marvel, constructed from pink sandstone, stands as a testament to the cultural and religious ties between the two nations.
