Mixed-Team Golf Event Approved for 2028 Olympics

A new mixed-team golf event has been approved for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, announced by the International Golf Federation (IGF). In this event, each team will have one male and one female golfer. These athletes will have already competed in the individual golf competitions. The event will be played over 36 holes, split into two rounds of 18 holes. Each country can only enter one team.

Antony Scanlon, the IGF’s executive director, said that this new event will help make golf even more popular in the Olympics. Golf returned to the Olympics in 2016 after more than 100 years. “Golf was a big success in Paris 2024, and we are excited to continue this success. We want to bring more attention to golf with this new mixed-team event,” Scanlon said.

Scanlon also mentioned that the athletes were very excited about playing with their teammates from the same country. “The athletes were very happy to play with their fellow countrymen and women. We can’t wait to see them compete together in Los Angeles,” he added.

This new mixed-team event will take place between the men’s and women’s individual competitions, at the famous Riviera Country Club.

This event is expected to attract a lot of attention and will be a fun new way for golfers to compete in the Olympics. Fans will be excited to see teams of male and female golfers representing their countries in Los Angeles in 2028.
