The ceremony was attended by key figures including Ali Abu Senah, CEO of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), Hashem Hemida, CEO of Esri North Africa, and other senior officials. This event celebrated Esri partners worldwide who have successfully implemented GIS to tackle complex environmental challenges and find innovative solutions.

In her speech, Minister Yasmine Fouad highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to advancing digital transformation and applying modern technologies to environmental management. She emphasized the Ministry’s efforts to align with the vision of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in ensuring environmental protection and the sustainable use of resources.

Fouad explained that the award recognized the Ministry’s successful implementation of a system to monitor and document biodiversity in Egypt’s nature reserves, a critical initiative for preserving the country’s diverse ecosystems. Additionally, she spotlighted other significant environmental monitoring systems developed by the Ministry, such as those that track air and water quality.

“The use of modern digital technologies is essential for enhancing the efficiency of environmental monitoring and ensuring better decision-making,” Fouad remarked. She expressed her appreciation for the Ministry’s team and Esri for their continued contributions to this important work.

Esri, founded in 1969, is the global market leader in GIS software, location intelligence, and mapping. The company has been a critical partner for governments and organizations around the world in using geographic science and geospatial analytics, known as “The Science of Where,” to drive informed decision-making and solve complex challenges.
