Meghan Markle's Blunt Response to Bullying Allegations: "It's Not My Job"

Meghan Markle has reportedly responded bluntly to the allegations that she bullied staff members within the royal family, dismissing the claims with the remark, "It's not my job to coddle people." The response came amid accusations raised by royal biographer Robert Lacey in his book *Battle of the Brothers*. According to Lacey, Meghan would often display harsh behavior towards her staff, with one courtier describing her as someone who “governed by fear.” The courtier further alleged that nothing was ever good enough for Meghan, and that she often humiliated her staff during meetings.

The bullying allegations were first made public in 2018 when Jason Knauf, the former communications secretary for both the Cambridges and Sussexes, sent a troubling email accusing Meghan of mistreating staff. Meghan and Prince Harry, however, have strongly denied the allegations, calling the claims part of a "calculated smear campaign" fueled by "misleading and harmful misinformation."

In response to the claims, a spokesperson for the Sussexes issued a statement expressing disappointment at how the media had given credibility to the defamatory portrayal. “Let’s just call this what it is – a calculated smear campaign based on misleading and harmful misinformation,” the spokesperson said. They also pointed out that the resurfacing of these old allegations was no coincidence, as it came shortly before Meghan and Harry were set to speak openly about their recent experiences.

As part of the ongoing defense of Meghan, some of her close friends have publicly stepped forward to offer support. A friend of Meghan’s told *Bazaar.com* that the accusations of her being too angry or intimidating are unfortunately familiar, particularly for women of color in high positions. "Find me a woman of color in a senior position who has not been accused of being too angry, too scary... in the workplace," the friend remarked.

Meghan’s longtime friend, Jessica Mulroney, also defended her character, describing the Duchess as “kind, empathetic, and loving.” Mulroney took to social media to voice her support, emphasizing that no one could understand the pressure Meghan has faced, but in the face of it all, she had remained steadfast in kindness and compassion. "I don't know that anyone has ever had to deal with the pressure, the politics, and the press like this woman," Mulroney said. "In the face of it all, I have never seen her waver from kindness, empathy, and love."
