Marc Leishman had a great day at the LIV Golf Miami tournament. On the last day, he started three shots behind Bryson DeChambeau. But he played very well, scoring 4-under 68 with no mistakes (no bogeys) and four birdies. This helped him win the match and also helped his team, Ripper GC, win the team title.

Leishman’s final score for the weekend was 6-under-par 210. He won by just one shot over Charl Schwartzel from South Africa. Schwartzel played really well too, scoring 66 on the last day, and came in second.
Leishman joined LIV Golf in 2022 after leaving the PGA Tour. He had not won a LIV tournament before this. He said he started to doubt himself after doing badly in the last tournament in Singapore, where he tied for 51st place.
"Sometimes you feel like maybe you won't win again," Leishman said. "But this win feels amazing. I’ve been really happy on this tour. I feel like the happiest person here."
Sergio Garcia also tried to catch up. He made a birdie on the 17th hole and got to 5 under. But on the 18th hole, he hit the ball into the water and got a bogey. That made him finish at 4 under with a score of 71, putting him in third place.
Leishman said he was watching the scoreboard. “I saw Sergio birdied 17, and I thought, ‘I need to make a birdie too.’ I also knew Charl had one more hole, and it was a good chance to score.”
Even though Leishman didn’t make any more birdies after hole 10, he made safe shots and finished with all pars for the last eight holes. That was enough to win.
In the team event, Leishman, Cameron Smith, Lucas Herbert, and Matt Jones together scored 5 under in the third round. Their team score was 4 over, which was 8 shots better than DeChambeau’s Crushers GC team, who came in second.
Cameron Smith said, "It shows how good Leish is. He’s been close to winning for a long time, and today he did it. The course was really hard, but he played so well."
Charl Schwartzel, who finished second, said he now feels good about his game. He will now play at the Masters Tournament at Augusta National, because he won it back in 2011.
“This year, I feel more hopeful,” Schwartzel said. “I worked hard during the break. I lost over 10 pounds, got fit, and practiced more. The best part is, I have no injuries now. I can swing the club freely, and that helps a lot.”
