Mansoor bin Mohammed honours winners of the seventh Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup in Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), presided over the crowning of champions at the seventh Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup held at the Shabab Al Ahli Club from June 1 to 2 in Dubai. The event showcased remarkable performances from athletes representing top local clubs and academies, with Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club emerging as a standout performer by clinching titles in the Under-14 and Under-18 categories.

Present at the award ceremony were notable figures including His Excellency Lieutenant-General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Board Member of Shabab Al Ahli Club; His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the UAE and Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federations.

Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club demonstrated their prowess by securing victories in the Under-14 category, followed by Sharjah Self-Defence and Shabab Al Ahli in second and third places, respectively. In the Under-16 division, Sharjah Self-Defence claimed the title, with Baniyas and Al Ain securing second and third positions. Al Ain continued their dominance in the Under-18 category, triumphing over Baniyas and Al Jazira. In the Adults division, Al Wahda emerged victorious, followed by Al Ain and Baniyas in second and third places.

Youssef Al Batran, a Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, congratulated the winners, emphasizing the event's success in attracting athletes from over 20 clubs and academies across the nation. He highlighted the exceptional performances, particularly in the younger age categories, as a testament to the Federation and clubs' dedication to nurturing future jiu-jitsu talents. Al Batran underscored the championship's role in honing athletes' skills and preparing them for international competitions, ultimately contributing to the development of the Jiu-Jitsu National Team.

Al Batran extended gratitude to the UAE leadership for their visionary guidance in advancing sports in the country and for their unwavering support for athletes. He also thanked His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed for honoring the winners at the ceremony.

Ahmed Sultan Al Nuaimi, Executive Director of Al Ain Sports Club, expressed delight at their victory in the U14 and U18 categories, attributing the success to the club's strategy of developing young talent and enhancing their competitiveness.

Saeed Al Qubaisi, an athlete from Al Ain Club, shared his joy at winning a gold medal in the U14 44 kg category, expressing gratitude for the support from his club and coaches. Abdullah Al Darmaki, who secured gold in the U18 94kg category, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the significance of the victory in such a prestigious tournament.

His Excellency Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club, dedicated the win to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, expressing pride in the young athletes' outstanding performance.

Hamdan Mohammed Al-Najjar of Sharjah Self-Defence, who won a gold medal in the 48 kg category, expressed gratitude and happiness for his achievement and the team's success in the U16 category.

His Excellency Obaid Muftah Al Mahrezi, President of Al Wahda Sports Company, praised his team's determination and high skills, leading to victory in the Adult division for the second consecutive year. Muhammad Al-Suwaidi, an athlete from Al Wahda, expressed satisfaction at achieving their long-standing aspiration through hard work and dedication, noting the invaluable lessons learned from competing in various tournaments.
