Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, celebrated the conclusion of the inaugural Dubai Premier Padel P1 by crowning the champions of the men’s and women’s competitions at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium. The exciting week-long tournament saw the world's top padel players compete for a prize pool of AED 1.89 million.
Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia triumphed in the men's event, defeating Federico Chingotto and Alejandro Galan in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. In the women’s competition, Bea Gonzalez and Delfina Brea Senesi lifted the trophy after overcoming Alejandra Alonso De Villa and Andrea Ustero Prieto with a dominant 6-2, 6-3 win. The tournament, organized by Gallop Global in collaboration with the UAE Padel Association (UAEPA), the International Padel Federation (FIP), the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), Dubai Sports Council (DSC), and Premier Padel, marked the emirate’s first-ever Premier Padel P1 event.
Coello, the world number one in padel, was thrilled with his victory and the performance he and his partner Tapia delivered throughout the tournament. Coello attributed their winning streak to maintaining focus on each match individually, stating that Dubai is a “special city and special tournament” for him.
Gonzalez, who was coming off an injury and had not competed for a while, was overjoyed with her performance, which helped her and Brea Senesi clinch the women’s title. Despite her partner Brea Senesi’s absence from the press conference due to illness, Gonzalez expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete at such a high level so soon after her recovery.
The event saw high praise from the UAE Padel Association, with President Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum thanking Sheikh Mansoor for his support of the sport in Dubai. The UAEPA President expressed hope that the event would inspire a new generation of homegrown champions. He commended the efforts of Coello, Tapia, Gonzalez, and Brea Senesi for their outstanding achievements during the tournament.
Saeed Mohammed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, also lauded the tournament’s success, recognizing its immediate standing as a world-class event. He highlighted how the Dubai Premier Padel P1 brought top-tier talent to the emirate and how such international events contribute to the city’s growth and the sport's development.
Ivan Modia, Tournament Director and CEO of Gallop Global, extended his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mansoor and the leadership for their continuous support of the UAE's sports sector. He expressed Gallop Global’s commitment to bringing more premier sports events to Dubai, emphasizing the city’s deserving status as a host for world-class competitions. Modia also thanked the key partners, including UAEPA, DET, DSC, FIP, and Premier Padel, for their dedication to the event’s success.
The official sponsor of the inaugural Dubai Premier Padel P1 was Dubai Duty Free, with additional support from Joma, Adidas, Aster Pharmacy, Oysho, Greenset Padel, and NOX.
This premier event not only marked a significant milestone for padel in Dubai but also set the stage for future international tournaments, contributing to the emirate’s growing reputation as a global sports hub.
