Manchester City's Omar Marmoush Scores Wonder Goal in 3-1 Win Over Bournemouth
Manchester City beat Bournemouth 3-1 on Tuesday in the Premier League, with Omar Marmoush scoring a stunning goal. The win moved City up to third place in the table. It was also a special match as it marked Kevin De Bruyne’s final appearance for the team.
City now have 68 points with just one game left to play. They are two points ahead of Newcastle United, Chelsea, and Aston Villa in the race for a top-five finish and a Champions League spot. Bournemouth are 11th, and this loss means they can no longer qualify for European football next season.
Both teams finished the match with 10 players. City's Mateo Kovacic was sent off in the 67th minute for pulling back Evanilson when he was through on goal. Bournemouth’s Lewis Cook got a red card in the 73rd minute after a rough tackle on Nico Gonzalez.
City started the match strongly, and Marmoush scored in the 14th minute. He ran forward and hit a powerful shot from 30 yards out that went into the top-left corner.
In the 38th minute, Bernardo Silva made it 2-0. Ilkay Gundogan passed the ball back to Silva, who shot it in at the near post. Nico Gonzalez added a third goal in the 89th minute with a great run and finish.
Bournemouth scored a late goal right before the final whistle. Daniel Jebbison took advantage of a poor pass by Ruben Dias and scored through Ederson’s legs.
Earlier in the first half, Bournemouth had a good chance to score, but Evanilson’s shot hit the post after a cross from Marcus Tavernier.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola said, “From the start, City played with a lot of energy. They scored one of the best goals of the season, and it hurt us.”
City midfielder Rodri also returned to the field for the first time in eight months. He came on as a late substitute and received a big cheer from the fans. The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner had been out since September with a serious knee injury.
